Students and staff at Albion High School are mourning the death of a student, just days before graduation.
Brennan Moody, 17, was one of four seniors involved in a one-car crash on Eagle Harbor Road just after midnight Tuesday. Moody, who was a backseat passenger, died at the scene.
The other three passengers, all males and seniors at Albion, were transported to hospitals, one by Mercy Flight. Two were released as of Tuesday. The condition of the fourth male is unknown.
State troopers say the vehicle they were in went off the road and crashed into a ditch, before going airborne and striking a utility pole. Excessive speed is believed to be a factor.
Grief counselors and clergy were made available at the school and other district buildings for students and parents. Albion Superintendent Michael Bonnewell issued a statement saying he was "heartbroken" by the tragedy.
"Please keep them all, as well as their families in your thoughts and prayers," he said.
