The WBFO News department is celebrating three national awards.
On Saturday night, News Director Dave Debo was in Washington to accept two PRNDI Awards. PRNDI stands for Public Radio News Directors, Inc.
The awards are highly competitive.
Reporter Nick Lippa won first place in Best Use of Sound for a piece profiling a Buffalo Philharmonic cellist who reflected on his family history while performing at Auschwitz.
Former senior reporter Eileen Buckley received a second place award for a story about a vending machine that provides books for students.
On Friday, the group Mental Health America in Washington recognized WBFO and Buckley with its Media Award for our reporting on mental health issues.
