Crash kills Frontier High student, injures three others

Pietszak Funeral Home

A Frontier High School student died Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Southwestern Boulevard near Transit Road in West Seneca.

Town police say Edward Travis IV, 18, was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His girlfriend, Elizabeth Rybarczyk, 18, was taken to the Erie County Medical Center, where she is reported to be in stable condition following emergency surgery.

The occupants of the second vehicle were treated and released.

Police say Travis veered into the oncoming lane, crashing into the other vehicle.

Travis and Rybarczyk had attended their high school prom Friday evening. Frontier Prinicipal Dr. Richard Hughes tweeted Travis was on his way to volunteer when the crash occurred.

Hughes said counselors will be available Monday morning to assist grieving students. A memorial service will begin at 7 a.m. at the school, on what would have been the last day of classes for the semester.

The family will be present Tuesday from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Pietszak Funeral Home in Cheektowaga, where services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and at St. Teresa's Parish at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna.
