Flood watch for potential ice jam flooding in WNY

Rising temperatures have emergency response officials in Western New York on alert for potential flooding. The National Weather Service has posted a flood watch from late Sunday night through Wednesday night.

Right now, the only trouble spot appears to be Buffalo Creek at Gardenville. The creek is running just under the seven foot flood stage, but has been holding steady at 6.65 feet all morning long.

The West Seneca highway department has distributed sand bags to the Lexington Green neighborhood off Mineral Springs Road, the site of severe flooding several years ago.

Highway crews in many cities and towns spent Saturday removing mounds of snow from last week's massive snowfall, especially around storm drains.
