21-vehicle crash closes Thruway near Batavia

State Police

A crash involving 21 vehicles on the New York State Thruway led to the closure of all eastbound lanes Wednesday afternoon.New York State Police are on-scene investigating and assisting drivers involved in the crash eastbound on I-90 near Batavia. Injuries to drivers were reported, but their extent is unknown.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. as the region was dealing with a significant winter storm. Traffic was being diverted eastbound at Exit 48A (Pembroke) and Exit 48 (Batavia) and westbound at Exit 47 (Leroy).
 
State Police say the preliminary investigation shows 21 vehicles, including tractor trailers, were involved in the crash.
 
A member was injured in the crash and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
