Family-friendly First Night Buffalo celebrating its 30th year

Ronald Peralta/WBFO News

First Night Buffalo is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Each year, the drug and alcohol-free event invites people from all around Western New York to celebrate the start of a new year by offering a night full of family-friendly activities.“First Night has truly survived the test of time,” said Independent Health Foundation executive director Carrie Meyer, at a press conference Friday.

This year, the event will introduce new attractions for kids and parents to enjoy like laser tag, amusement rides and bounce houses. ComedySportz, a competitive and interactive improv comedy game-show, will also be a new feature at this year’s event.

Popular attractions from the past will also be making an appearance on New Year’s Eve, including the Hybrid Fitness-Ninja Warrior Academy and Jeff the Animal Guy.

“The year 2018 will soon be coming to an end and for those looking for a fun, responsible way to bring in the new year, please consider attending First Night Buffalo,” said Mayor Byron Brown.

The Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center will once again host the annual event on Dec. 31 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Attendees will be granted free parking at the Fernbach and Main Place Mall parking ramps.

Tickets are now on sale for $10 until Dec. 16. After that they rise to $12, or $15 at the door. Tickets are available exclusively at www.firstnightbuffalo.org.
