11-year-old girl killed in ATV accident

The Erie County Sheriff's office is investigating a motor vehicle crash that took the life of an 11-year-old girl Saturday evening.

The girl, identified as Sidney Sidote, was riding an all-terrain dirt bike along New Oregon Road in the town of North Collins, near the town of Eden, when a passenger vehicle collided with her bike. The driver and passengers in the car were uninjured.

Sidote was taken by ambulance to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville, then airlifted to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities say Sidote was wearing a helmet and protective footwear and the dirt bike was appropriately sized for her age.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 60s, is cooperating with authorities.
