Body of missing California man found

New YorK State Alerts

The body of a man believed to have been missing since late April was found Sunday morning in Cattaraugus County.Rudy Ray Rockett Sr., of Redondo Beach, CA, went missing on April 29, after having spent time at his vacation home along the shore of Lake Ontario. On that day, Rockett was supposed to take a flight out of Buffalo Niagara International Airport back to California.

Gregory Roy, Rockett’s stepson, is alleged to be the last person seen with his stepfather, as he was the driver taking Rockett from the Niagara County vacation home to the airport. Roy, the stepson, is currently being held in Niagara County Jail on a weapons charge.

The body was found in the East Otto State Forest, an area police had previously searched. According to the Buffalo News, Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour would not say whether the body was Rockett’s, pending an autopsy.
