A large work of public art, by a world-famous artist, is heading to Buffalo's Outer Harbor.
Robert Indiana's "NUMBERS ONE through ZERO" is going to be placed at Wilkeson Pointe, off Furhmann Boulevard. The temporary exhibit was approved, Monday, by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation. Its President, Tom Dee says, the work is pretty significant in size.
"They're eight-feet by eight-feet by four-feet. So they have significant size. And, from a viewing standpoint, we have so much space on the Outer Harbor it's great to fill it up. And when you can fill it up with a nice piece of art work like this, it's pretty exciting," Dee said.
The ten individual pieces are made of steel and weigh nearly 2,000 pounds apiece. Dee said, the work will be in place by early June. It's on loan from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery through October 2019.
