The Buffalo Bills had a long wait before making defensive tackle Harrison Phillips of Stanford their third round pick. Trading up in the first round for selecting quarterback Josh Allen and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds left the team with no picks in the second round, meaning the team and its fans had to wait through 80 other picks before making this selection. For General Manager Brandon Beane, it was challenging enduring the wait. Speaking of coach Sean McDermott and others, he said, "Those guys handcuffed me to the chair so that we didn't move up because it's hard sitting there for a while to watch good players go off the board."
Harrison is 6 foot 3 inches tall and over 300 pounds. He was named to the PAC-12's first team last season. He is considered a run stopper for the defense. McDermott is very impressed with his potential. "You look at the qualities he has with his strength, the intelligence, he's played and seen a lot in terms of his college career. [He's] extremely powerful, good in the run game, has the ability, also, to affect the quarterback."
Buffalo will conclude the draft with five picks over the last four rounds today.
