Longtime Hillside CEO is retiring

Hillside Family of Agencies

The Hillside Family of Agencies has announced the retirement of their longtime President and CEO. Dennis Richardson, who has been at the agency for 24 years, will step down at the end of June.

During his tenure, Hillside has grown from a $30 million organization to an annual budget of $160 million and a staff of over 2,400 employees in Western and Central New York and also in Washington D.C. and Maryland.

According to Hillside, in Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties it operates nine Children’s Center Community-based Team offices, three Children’s Center Individual Residential Alternative Group Homes (19 beds) and seven Work-Scholarship Connection Sites within the Buffalo Public School District that employ 268 employees and serve more than 1,600 families.

Hillside officials say the organization has one of the largest array of services for children and families in America, ranging from primary preventive services to residential treatment facilities. The agencies have been serving the community for more than 180 years.

Hillside has begun the process for looking for a new leader.
