FBI raids CCS Oncology sites as part of ongoing investigation

Raids were conducted by the FBI at several CCS Oncology locations across the region Tuesday. The raids are part of an investigation that The Buffalo News initially reported on last June. CCS is reportedly in financial trouble to the tune of millions of dollars in unpaid federal and state taxes and hundreds of thousands of dollars owed to vendors.

CCS has struggled financially since Independent Health dropped the practice from its network in late 2016. Last week, a federal judge allowed the Bank of America to seize assets from CCS. Investigators say they only want documents relevant to their investigation and that medical records will not be taken.

In a letter to patients, the Justice Department, FBI and Department of Health and Human Services advises CCS patients to speak to their primary care physician immediately about their care.
