Fire late Friday night destroyed a barn at the Smith Maple Farm on Mayer Road in the Town of Boston.
Firefighters arriving on the scene found the barn fully engulfed. They were able to save the nearby farm house, syrup evaporator building and garage.
Because of the fire, the Maple Weekend festivities were canceled Saturday. But the owners announced on Facebook that they will be open Sunday for the sale of syrup and maple products. There will be no tours, demonstrations and farm animals on display.
