Month-old water main break finally fixed in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls Mayor's Office

Thursday should be the day a major water main break in Niagara Falls is finally fixed.

That is the word from the Niagara Falls Water Board, which says it has been continuing to work toward repairing the break near 47th Street and Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Cataract City.

Based upon Department of Health requirements, the latest work involved water quality testing to ensure safe drinking water standards are met. That work is complete.

However, upon further analysis, the Water Board says it identified air releases "that were impacting performance and required replacement. Those air releases, which are a mechanism that allow air to flow out of the system, are located on Pine Avenue and Hyde Park."

That problem is expected to be fixed by Thursday. So finally, after weeks of work, the area should return to full water pressure.
