Habitat for Humanity Buffalo dedicated its 300th home Saturday.

The house was built at 42 Wende Street and will be occupied by Awal Hissu and his daughter. Hissu put in 500 hours of "sweat equity" into his home's construction.

Volunteers contributed more than six thousand hours of work. Construction began last April.

"We are truly grateful to all of the people who have made this house possible," said Teresa Bianchi, executive director of Habitat Buffalo. "We've had  such a cross-section of volunteers working on this site over the last nine months. This wouldn't be possible without them."

Habitat also recognized a 25-year partnership with Valu Home Center. Value has raised more than $3.7 million for 17 Habitat affiliates in New York and Pennsylvania.
