A drastic change in weather has taken Western New York from a near 60 degree meltdown to frigid temperatures and nearly 8 inches of new snow. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM today, bringing additional accumulations. One to three inches are expected in northern Erie and Niagara Counties. Areas east and south could see another 4 - 8 inches. Meteorologist Heather Kenyon states that the storm system is heading out of the area, but another, lighter system will follow.
"We're expecting another system to come through. It should be Monday night into Tuesday, but really, we're just expecting widespread light snow with some light accumulations across the area."
The drop in temperature has not completely removed the threat of flooding. A Flood Warning remains in place for Tonawanda Creek in Batavia until 7:30 tonight. The Flood Warning for the Allegheny River at Olean and Salamanca will remain in place until Monday morning.
The travel restrictions that were in place for the City of Niagara Falls have been lifted.
