NY Times dubs Buffalo a 'place to go' in 2018

The New York Times has placed Buffalo on its latest list of "52 Places to Go in 2018." In its description, the Times says, "Buffalo is making a big comeback in large part by repurposing its historic buildings and long-dormant grain silos." Buffalo is one of eleven U.S. destinations on the list. The others are international.

Patrick Kaler, president and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara, says tourism is a $1.7 billion industry in the Buffalo area. He says making the Times' Travel list is a big deal because the Travel section is read worldwide.

"Now we have the completion of the Martin House restoration project. Greycliff will be coming on this next year with their completion. Explore & More Children's Museum is going to be opening at the end of this year. And the Richardson Complex with the Hotel Henry and the architecture center. Those are all projects that are getting such fantastic notoriety for Buffalo," Kaler said.

Kaler says Buffalo last made the Travel list in 2009.
