Player evaluations are underway at One Bills Drive, in Orchard Park. During their end-of-season press conference, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane, and coach Sean McDermott said, it's too soon to say what offseason roster moves the team might make.
"We have a lot of work to do and we know that," and Bills GM Brandon Beane said, on Tuesday, it'll take several days to evaluate all the players. Asked if he was satisfied with how the offense produced under quarterback Tyrod Taylor, Beane said, that he's "not satisfied with the whole offense."
"And it wasn't just about Tyrod. You know, there's a lot of hands in the cookie jar, so to speak. And Sean and I, we're going to talk about everything. We know we have to get better on offense, on defense, on special teams. We are far from a finished product. I don't know if you're ever going to hear us say we're a finished product," Beane said.
As for Taylor's future, Beane says, he's keeping his options open about upgrades at quarterback. The Bills finished the season 9-7 and went to the playoffs for the first time in 18-years under rookie Head Coach Sean McDermott. He says he's anxious to build on what the Bills did in 2017.
"It's the second year through it for me as a head coach. There's a lot I want to improve on as well. And not only in what I do but also our procedure our approach. And, you guys know me, I've taken a lot of notes. And we're going to vet through those notes and make sure we're doing everything at a certain type of level. A standard. And that's a standard of winning. And I think our team, the players that left yesterday, really personified that and helped us to establish a standard around here of what winning looks like," McDermott said.
With more rebuilding on the way, Beane says, the Bills will "spend what they need to spend to get the right players."
