Pastor wraps up week with homeless

The Buffalo Dream Center's Pastor Eric Johns once again spent the Thanksgiving holiday week with the homeless.

It was his 19th consecutive year doing so. It's a funding raising effort for the center's Boxes of Love program. This year, more than 3000 families will be recipients of toys and food.

Johns says many of the homeless people he's come across have experienced extreme grief.

"I talked to a lady this week whose mother had died. She told me no one helped her with her grief. She's been out on the street for three years," Johns said. "I've met people who are divorced or whose spouse had died. A child had died."

Johns completed his week with the homeless Saturday morning.

He told WBFO News that he did not meet a single homeless veteran this year but that there were noticeably more women among those without a roof.
