Frank A. Sedita #30 officially opens to the community

Chris Caya WBFO News

Buffalo Public School officials and local elected leaders cut the ribbon on the District's newest Community School on Thursday.

Frank A. Sedita # 30 is located on Lowell Place, just off Vermont Street, on the city's West Side. Superintendent Kriner Cash says compared to other schools, community schools are open longer, more frequently and provide more services.

"They have what we call total wrap around services that include all of the health needs, the wellness needs, the legal assistance. Any support that the community needs we provide it here at the school level. Enrichment, after school programming, Saturday programming. So it's a total community effort," Cash said.

Community schools are designed to grow access, opportunity and quality. And, he says, the programming is second to none and will get residents excited about the Buffalo Public Schools again.
