KeyBank is donating $300,000 to assist with Women and Children’s Hospital’s move to the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Along with the monetary donation for non-labor expenses, more than 100 staff members of the bank will volunteer in transporting between 150 and 200 mothers and children to the new facility on November 10, along with equipment. The monetary support will include transportation, food and comfort kits for patients.
KeyBank Market President Buford Sears says the entire bank staff is proud to be part of the historic move.
“This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to assist an iconic community service organization from an existing facility, which is somewhat dated, into a brand new state-of-the-art facility,” Sears said.
Before Thursday's announced, KeyBank and the First Niagara Foundation had previously committed $225,000 to the new hospital.
“KeyBank’s support for this historic move is just the latest example of its deep commitment to Western New York,” said Kaleida Health President and Chief Executive Officer, Jody L. Lomeo, in a statement. “Thanks to their generosity, we will be able to give patients, families and caregivers an optimal experience on move day and help ensure the success of our transition to the new Oishei Children’s Hospital.”
Staff conducted a mock move of the transition last week.
