Buffalo Fire crews spent Friday morning at a blaze that caused extensive damage to three homes and sent 11 people to the hospital.

Officials say the fire was reported around 6:45 a.m. in a home at 112 Massachusetts Ave. on the city's West Side. The flames spread to two neighboring homes before being contained.

Firefighters say 11 people, including several children, are hospitalized. Information on their condition has not yet been released. The Red Cross is assisting the families.

Firefighters say the home where the blaze started will likely need to be demolished. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
