Governor Andrew Cuomo is deploying members of the National Guard and the New York State Police to the US Virgin Islands. The order comes after Cuomo toured the area that was hard hit by Hurricane Irma. One hundred members of the Guard's 105th Military Police Company and 30 members of the State Police will be assisting with cleanup, restoration of services and security. Preparations for the deployment are underway.
Cuomo mentioned that the level of devastation cannot be appreciated without seeing it first hand.
