Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that killed one person and hospitalized four others Sunday afternoon. The crash occurred on Route 20A in Wyoming County's Varysburg. Police say a car crossed over into oncoming traffic, striking two motorcycles. Both motorcyclists were traveling with a passenger.

All four people riding on the motorcycles were taken to the hospital. Passenger Tomasa Martinez, 66 of North Tonawanda, was transported Wyoming County Community Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The others were transported to Erie County Medical Center.

The driver of the car, identified as Joshua Huntress of Mayville, was also hospitalized. Charges are pending against him.

Police also are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed one person and injured several others Sunday in Genesee County. The crash happened on Route 33 in Bergen around 9 p.m.

Genesee County Sheriff's deputies say the driver of a sedan struck a truck in oncoming traffic after trying to pass a van. The truck then traveled off the shoulder of the road.

Investigators say the driver of the van tried avoiding the truck and struck a utility pole and a tree. The driver and five passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment. The two occupants of the truck were not injured. The sedan left the scene.

The Genesee County Sheriff also announced that Brian West Jr. had died of his serious injuries sustained in a rollover crash in Alexander about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Deputies responded to West Bethany Road to find a pickup truck went off the shoulder of the road and rolled over, ejecting West from the vehicle.

He was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he died Monday morning.
