Rochester police officer wounded in shooting

A Rochester police officer was shot and wounded late Saturday night.

Police Chief Michael Ciminelli says the officer, identified as 36 year old Jeremy Nash, was shot near his face and that the injury is non-life threatening. Nash is an 11-year veteran of the department.

The officer was taken to Rochester General Hospital for treatment. He was admitted in stable condition.

The shooting happened on North Street in Rochester. The area was immediately cordoned off by police.

There is no word yet on a suspect, but the investigation is continuing.
