Concert at Artpark delayed by scare

WBFO News photo

A check of the stage area at Artpark in Lewiston delayed the performance of Randy Bachmann’s show Tuesday evening.

New York State Parks Police reported that a K-9 dog picked up an odor during a routine check of the stage area around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities brought in a second dog who also picked up the same scent.

There was a partial evacuation as authorities conducted a full search. An Erie County Bomb Squad and police agencies conducted a full sweep, but nothing was discovered.

Law enforcement joined investigation at Artpark.

Thousands of concert-goers waited in a long line outside the venue. Some stood while others used their lawn chairs they brought for the concert as they waited for the all-clear to enter the venue. They were finally allowed in around 8 p.m.

Artpark, which has a curfew, extended it until 10:30 p.m.
