Site work begins for Northland Corridor Project

Chris Caya WBFO News

Demolition crews have started site preparation work on the Northland Corridor Project, on Buffalo's East Side.

The $60 million project, between Fillmore Ave., and Grider St., will feature a new Workforce Training Center. Buffalo Urban Development Corporation president, Peter Cammarata says, it's a very important project for the neighborhood.

"This is going to create a facility, in the Workforce Training Center, which will attract people from all over Western New York, which will bring people back to this neighborhood, which has been lacking in that sort of attention for many years," Cammarata said.

The pre-construction work includes the partial demolition of the former Houdaille/Vibratech plant and street and utility upgrades on Northland Avenue. The training center is expected to open in about a year.
