Four injured in Niagara County crash

The Niagara County Sheriff's Department is investigating a head-on collision Saturday night in the Niagara County town of Hartland.

It happened shortly before 7pm on Ridge Road. Three adults and a one-year-old child were hurt.

The child, her mother and grandmother were in one of the cars. They are identified as Ellen Matesic, 64, of Newfane and Maren Smith, 32, also of Newfane. Matesic is in serious condition at the Erie County Medical Center. Smith was treated and released at ECMC. The child is in good condition at Women and Children's Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Matthew Lukasic, 30, of Lockport. He is reported in good condition at ECMC.

Sheriff's deputies say Lukasic, who was traveling westbound, swerved into the eastbound lanes, causing the crash. Charges against him are pending.
