The Canisius College community is gathering early Monday evening for a candlelight vigil in the Christ the King Chapel to remember freshman Victoria Brooks.

Brooks and her mother were murdered in their Rochester home on the Thanksgiving holiday. They were discovered by family members Friday morning.

The College's Campus Ministry is working with members of the family to schedule a memorial service at a later date.

Monday's vigil begins at 5 p.m. The College tells WBFO News this service is for the Canisius community only and it is not open to media.

Canisius continues providing grief counseling for students. The Gates Police Department is working to raise donations for the student's funeral expenses. For those who wish to contribute, donations can be sent to the Gates Police. Any additional money raised will go to her surviving siblings.

Checks can be made payable to Gates Chili Community Connections and sent toGates Police at 1605 Buffalo Road, Rochester, NY 14624.

Canisius college it extended condolences to the family in a statement, stating it "is profoundly saddened by the deaths of freshman student Victoria Brooks and her mother, Christie Brooks. We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to their surviving family members and friends."
