A re-purposed former hospital has been such a success that owners are looking at building new on the site. That's McGuire Development which turned the old Sheehan Hospital on Michigan into the successful Compass East building.
Passersby can recognize it for the giant Bak and Time Warner signs along the roof. The building sits at the far end of the property from Michigan and McGuire is considering a 50,000 square feet structure along Michigan, perhaps with some retail space along the sidewalk.
"It's been three years since we announced the plans, the excitement of that building being on the East Side and the acceptance of the marketplace for it," said President Jim Dentinger.
The anchor tenants of Time Warner Cable and Bak and the University Pediatric Dentistry has been a great mix of customers for us."
Dentinger says the final plans should be complete early in the new year, to take them to City Hall for the regulatory process. He says the goal is to have the $7 million building under construction in about a year.
