The first blast of winter weather is approaching Western New York this weekend. A Lake Effect Snow Warning will be in place from 4 this afternoon through 10 o'clock Monday morning for Southern Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Predictions estimate that between 9 and 18 inches of snow are possible in persistent snow regions. High winds through the weekend could cause issues with drifting snow and limited visibility.
A Lake Effect Snow Advisory will be issued from 7 tonight through 10 AM Monday for Genesee, Wyoming and Allegany Counties.
Three to 8 inches of snow could fall in those areas.
