The office of State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has completed a review of the 2017 budget being proposed for the City of Lockport. The review identified two key shortfalls in the budget. The city is facing negotiations in 4 collective bargaining agreements and more than 50 city retirements. These factors led to a recommendation for an increase in contingency appropriations. The adoption of a tax overlay is also suggested to prepare the city for an anticipated shortfall in the collection of property taxes.
It is up to the Common Council to take action on the results of the review.
