William Hochul taking job with Delaware North

Michael Mroziak/WBFO News

Outgoing U.S. Attorney William Hochul has taken a job with Delaware North to serve as the company's general counsel.

Earlier this month, Hochul announced his decision to resign his post, effective this Friday. He did not announce his future plans, at the time.

Hochul has worked for the Justice Department for 30 years, the last six at U.S. Attorney for Western New York. He built a reputation of prosecuting gangs, terrorism, and prescription drug crimes. His successor will be chosen by the winner of the presidential election.

"Bill’s outstanding credentials, broad expertise and vast experience in the legal field make him a perfect fit for Delaware North," said Delaware North Co-CEOS Jerry Jacobs Jr. and Lou Jacobs, in a statement. "In the role, Bill will manage the legal function for the company and provide advice and counsel to senior management in all legal matters involving Delaware North or its operating companies."

Hochul, who is married to Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, will reportedly serve as Delaware North's general counsel. The Buffalo-based hospitality company is one of the country's largest privately-held companies and has offices worldwide.
