Lead Tainted Water Found at Eleven Local Schools

State mandated drinking water testing has found high lead levels in eleven local school districts. The Buffalo News reports that notifications were sent to parents of students in Clarence, Cleveland Hill, Depew, Fredonia, Hamburg, Lackawanna, Lockport, North Collins, Orchard Park, Silver Creek and Williamsville schools. Some water fixtures in each of these districts were found to  be in need of replacement or repair to rectify the problem.

Dennis Kwaczala, the senior health and safety coordinator for Erie 1 BOCES is quoted as saying that "parents should be concerned...but they should not panic."

He mentioned that information included on the letter sent to parents will be very helpful in understanding the situation.
