The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority is beginning a construction project to replace the pavement at the west entrance and exit lanes to the Buffalo Niagara International. As a result, the airport entrance/exit opposite the Kensington Expressway will be closed nightly Monday-Friday and again October 24-25 from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Single lane closures on Genesee Street and at the entrance or exit lanes also will occur intermittently during each day 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The work includes full depth asphalt pavement replacement, as well as milling a portion of the pavement and replacement with an asphalt overlay to restore the airport’s west entrance and exit lanes. Reconstruction of the sidewalk and handicap access ramps on either side of the entrance/exit is also included, as well as replacement of the traffic control detection loops in the pavement.
Variable message boards will be in place to alert people to use the east entrance during closure.
