An audit by the State Comptroller's office is indicating that the state overpaid for health care premiums during the 2014 - 2015 fiscal year. The audit showed that the State Department of Health overpaid managed care organizations by nearly $19 million, and nearly $60 million in overpayments are at risk over the next 3 years due to a flaw in the calculating formula. The audit also indicated that the state is missing out on millions in proposed reforms.
Multi-step changes in oversight have been recommended.
