Western New York's talented Jeremy Keyes Bandopened the show in front of a packed house at the WNED|WBFO studios. Keyes and his bandmates showed why they are the WNY winners of the Memphis Bound Competition for the International Blues Challenge (IBC) to be held in early 2017 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Headline act the Jeremiah Johnson Bandbrought their St. Louis style and passion to the stage for over an hour and a half, and came back for a single-song encore demanded by the crowd. Johnson and his crew sang many of the original songs he's been writing for decades.

Benet Schaeffer rattled on the drums, Jeff Girardier provided a non-stop beat on bass, and Frank Bauer wailed on the saxaphone throughout the evening.

Johnson's sixth studio album, Blues Heart Attack was released this summer

Previous Blues Bash shows have brought other top performers to and local talent to the stage, including the Noah Wotherspoon Band, the Ghost Town Blues Band, Billy the Kid and the Regulators and the Selwyn Birchwood Band.

Avery began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WRUB, the University at Buffalo’s student-run radio station.
