Police say a pedestrian was hit by a freight train and killed while walking along the tracks in Dunkirk.
Police say it appears two people had been walking the tracks around midnight when one of them was hit by a CSX rail line west of Middle Road. A road near the tracks was closed for several hours while police, fire and rail officials investigated.
Dunkirk Police are asking anyone with information to come forward, including the second person, by calling 716-366-2266. The victim's name is not being released until family members can be notified.
