Evander Kane case adjourned until October 31

Michael Mroziak, WBFO

Pretrial proceedings continued Friday morning in Buffalo City Court in the case of a Buffalo Sabres player charged in a summer incident inside a Chippewa District bar.

Prosecuting attorneys revealed a new deposition before Judge Barbara Johnson-Lee during Friday morning proceedings. Defense attorney Paul Cambria requested - and was granted - an adjournment so that the defense team may review that new deposition.

Kane is charged with numerous counts in connection with a reported confrontation inside Bottoms Up, a Chippewa Street establishment, in late June. He's accused of grabbing hair, necks or arms of those he argued with.

Charges against him include four counts of harassment, one count of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, a Class B misdemeanor. Kane turned himself in to Buffalo Police in July and pled not guilty to charges. He's been free on his own recognizance throughout proceedings.

Upon leaving court, Cambria suggested there have been no talks about any settlements.

Kane's case is due back before Judge Johnson-Lee on the morning of October 31.
