Beyond the Playbook: Bills look to ground Ravens in Baltimore

While the Buffalo Bills are listed as underdogs for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, analyst Matt Sabuda sees an opportunity. "Fans shouldn't be surprised to see the team start out with an upset win." Injuries to the Ravens defense, Sabuda says, give the Bills a chance for success on Sunday.

During his first appearance of the season on WBFO's Beyond the Playbook, Sabuda admits he may have an overactive sense of optimism about the Bills. The team will be without defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, arguably their best player, for the first four games of the season due to suspension.

"Add that to losing their first two draft picks to injury and the coaches will have their work cut out for them to make up for those losses," said Sabuda.

"But on the bright side, the Bills did sign quarterback Tyrod Taylor to a long-term contract that's very team-friendly in the sense that if it works out he'll be paid fairly, but if not they can move on without a long-term salary cap hit."

Sabuda sees Taylor and running back LeSaun McCoy making plays against the battered Baltimore defense.

"And on defense, despite missing Dareus their reserve depth has performed surprisingly well in the pre-season. But the big question is: Can it translate to the regular season?"

The Bills and the Ravens meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.
