This holiday weekend is expected to be another busy one on Buffalo's downtown waterfront. To keep traffic moving smoothly, Mayor Byron Brown says more police officers will be assigned to the growing area. Through Labor Day, Brown says upwards of 70-thousand people are expected to visit Canalside and the Erie Basin Marina.

"So, we will certainly have our traffic unit out, directing traffic, making sure that people can move about more freely, more safely, and without getting stuck for very long periods of time."

Brown says electronic message signs are also up and running to direct drivers to open parking lots downtown. Visitors are also encouraged to use public transportation, including Metro Rail which stops near the Central Wharf.
