Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz has announced his endorsement of Democratic candidate Monica Wallace for the 143rd District Assembly seat. Wallace, a Lancaster resident, is a lawyer and a teacher at the UB Law School. She is facing a party challenge for the seat from candidate Kristy Mazurek. Mazurek dismissed the Poloncarz announcement today as irrelevant. She said that "The only endorsement I want is from the voters," calling Poloncarz "a career politician, a Democratic Party Boss [who] doesn't even live in the district."
Wallace and Mazurek are seeking to fill the seat being vacated by Angela Wozniak, who is leaving after one term after facing discipline for inappropriate actions toward a staff member.
