Duck Derby raises $5,000 for community projects

Katharine Smith

The Rotary Club of Buffalo held its second annual Duck Derby Sunday afternoon at Canalside. Over 500 people adopted ducks, raising over $5,000 for the community. Buffalo Rotary Club Secretary Katherine Smith said holding the derby at Canalside will only help the event grow in future years.

"We raised more money this year, so we're very pleased," said Smith. "I think that in succeeding years we're just going to see it grow. There are other duck derbies in the area, but I think we're pretty unique because we're at Canalside."

The money raised will go to diverse community projects. Smith said Rotary plans to continue the derby for years to come.
