Viewing options for Tragically Hip's tour finale

Gord Downie

The Tragically Hip will perform the final concert in their 15-stop summer tour tonight at 8:00 in their home town of Kingston, Ontario. The concert will be televised by the CBC, and viewing parties are planned across Canada, but Hip fans on this side of the border will also have a chance to see it.

The Riviera Theater will be screening the CBC broadcast tonight; admission is free. At Larkin Square, Community Beer Works will be holding an end-of-summer festival. Admission to the festival is $10 but the screening itself is free. A portion of the proceeds will be donated the the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer research.

Subscribers to Time Warner Cable can get the CBC affiliate from Toronto. The concert is also being streamed at cbc.ca, though it's not certain the stream will be available to IP addresses outside of Canada.

Downie, the lead singer of the hip, announced earlier this year he's been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and this is widely considered to be his farewell concert, though the band itself refers to it only as the final stop on the tour. Canada's prime minister, Justin Trudeau, will be among those in attendance tonight.
