Niagara Falls mayor Paul Dyster has issued a Bloom Notice for a portion of Hyde Park Lake. A potentially harmful Blue-Green Algae Bloom was discovered in the upper-eastern portion of the lake near Gill Creek. Exposure to the bloom can be harmful to people and to pets. Authorities are monitoring the situation.
The bloom can be identified by an appearance similar to paint or pea soup.
