The Buffalo Sabres have announced that their first round pick from this year's draft has been signed. Forward Alexander Nylander, the 8th overall pick, is reported to have agreed to a 3-year, entry level contract. Team General Manager Tim Murray was pleased that the prized pick was in the fold, stating "When we selected Alex, we obviously knew he was a talented, skilled player. We look forward to him coming to training camp and competing for a job."

Nylander is a native of Stockholm, Sweden, and he has had played impressively on the international stage as well as in the states. He was Sweden's leading scorer in the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship team. He also earned Rookie of the Year honors in both the OHL and CHL last season.
