It's Taste of Buffalo weekend. This year's 33rd annual festival continues Sunday through 7pm. Sixty-two restaurants and food trucks are taking part.

A first-time event -- a kale eating competition -- was held Saturday. The winner consumed 25-and-a-half cups of raw kale in eight minutes.

Organizers are expecting 450,000 people to visit the Taste of Buffalo. Paul Bracci was among those enjoying the Taste Saturday...

"It's always a great time. It is a little windy. There are a lot of nice restaurants," Bracci said.

Jocelyn Swick-Jemison was just wrapping up her day at the Taste of Buffalo when she was approached by WBFO News. She was there with her husband and two young children. Swick-Jemison said the food fest is family friendly.

"Absolutely. The kids love it. There's a roly-poly attraction. They hang out there while my husband and I take turns getting food," Swick-Jemison said.

There was a strong security presence in light of recent national events. Buffalo police officers were assisted by a private security firm in patrolling the event.

Three new awards were presented this year. The Sponge Candy Caramel Cannoli from Panaro's Restaurant was the inaugural winner of the Best of Buffalo award. Best Sandwich was the House Smoked Brisket Slider from Savor. And Chrusciki Bakery received the first-ever Veterans Award.

The Best Overall Item was the Deep Fried PB & J from Stack Burger.
