A popular brewer, whose U.S. corporate headquarters is based in Buffalo, is announcing the arrival of a unique tournament that will be held next month in the city’s Outer Harbor.

It's known as the Undomesticated Games, featuring several quirky events, including human bowling, oversized slingshots and various other bizarre sports.

The event is being hosted at Wilkeson Point by Labatt USA, which for many years has hosted a popular outdoor hockey tournament in downtown Buffalo. Lisa Texido, brand manager for Labatt USA, explained that the Undomesticated Games were born following a brainstorming session by staff trying to come up with a summertime event.

"We're community members here as well, and we're so excited to be able to put on an event to get more Western New Yorkers down to the water and really enjoy all that Buffalo has to offer this summer."

The Games will be held on July 16 to coincide with "716 Day," celebrations of Buffalo and Western New York that provide a play on the region's telephone area code.

Matt LaSota, general manager of Outer Harbor Management Group, which oversees functions at Wilkeson Point, is pleased to welcome the Games to the venue.

"This is the perfect event, what we want to bring to the Outer Harbor," LaSota said. "Something that gets you outside, be part of nature, see the beautiful scenery and views of the lake, and all the trees and even the wildlife that's out here."
