It's time to get fishing poles and tackle ready, as state environmental officials open the regular harvest season for largemouth and smallmouth bass.
Beginning Saturday, anglers will be able to keep up to five bass with a minimum size of 12 inches on most waters. Certain waterways have some special regulations, which state DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos said anglers should check into before heading out.
With bass season underway, all New York fishing seasons are also open.
