Gosy practice reopens today

www.gosyassociates.com

Gosy & Associates re-opens today after a two-week closure.

The pain management center's namesake, Dr. Eugene Gosy, has been charged with 114 counts related to what federal prosecutors say were illegal prescriptions of controlled substances. Gosy has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

On the center's website, it says  staff will be contacting patients to re-scheduled canceled appointments - and although Gosy will not be able to treat patients, three other physicians will be available for consults, as well as the center's nurse practitioners and physician assistant.

"Dr. Gosy would like to thank the New York State Department of Health, the New York State Medical Society, Buffalo Hospice, and Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company for their efforts to expedite the necessary arrangements for patients to resume treatment at Gosy & Associates," the site says. "Dr. Gosy would also like to express his gratitude to Drs. Nancy Nielsen, Christopher Kerr and Robert Milch. These three physicians have agreed to be available to our mid-level providers for consultations about patient care, until we find a more permanent solution."

The site states that any suggestion Gosy abandoned his patients is false and misleading. Instead, it blames government authorities for requiring Gosy to surrender his DEA license.

Dr. Gosy has denied any wrong doing and, on his website, says he looks forward to the opportunity to defend himself and his practice.
